Born in Nouméa, in New Caledonia, Julien Brécard is nicknamed ‘Yu’ by his friends, and moved to Saint Etienne with his family at an early age. He was a huge fan of football and played with the Saint Etienne team until the age of 16. He didn’t neglect his studies however, and later moved to Paris where he earned a masters degree in Sport Management.
Julien discovered poker in 2004, at a time when the game was becoming massive on the internet. He became very active in the poker community, and quickly decided to make a career out of it. This ambition become a reality when he joined the ranks of Team PokerStars Pro in 2010. He also works as a Team Pro manager at PokerStars France, helping to manage members of the elite team.
He has a string of impressive results in the biggest events around the world, including a 97th place finish at the World Series of Poker* Main Event in 2009 - good for $47,003. He also won a French Poker Award after being voted by the public, presented to him at the Deauville event of EPT Season 6.
2012 confirmed Julien's talent, since he finished 36th of the France Poker Series Snowfest in Évian for €1,600. He also recorded his biggest winning online for his runner-up place on the SCOOP 2012 Main Event, pocketing a six-digit figure: €111,648.70 more precisely!
With his unique style - a mix of poker know-how and good mood - Julien is now considered as the French poker reference on PokerStarsLive.fr and for The Big Game TV Show.
